Original Banksy Painting Worth Almost 2 Million Dollars

The “Haight Street Rat” is a controversial graffiti painting by renowned British street artist “Banksy”… The estimated value of the “Haight Street Rat” is now over $1.7Milion (USD) making it arguably one of the most sought after pieces of contemporary art in the world. The painting was removed from a wall in San-Francisco by private art collector (Brian Greif) who wanted to see the artwork preserved and put on display in a museum (free of charge to the public) before it was vandalized or destroyed like some of the other Banksy paintings which had mysteriously popped up across the city during the summer of 2010…

Saving Banksy Is More Than Just A Documentary

The “Haight Street Rat” was recently featured on (and is the subject of) the critically acclaimed documentary “Saving Banksy” which first aired on Netflix (5 star-rating) in June. The film is directed by Colin M. Day and is a great introduction for those not familiar with the art scene as it explores the touchy subject of removing street art from its original location and the outrageous prices some collectors are willing to pay in-order to obtain one of these rare paintings for their collection… “Saving Banksy” also features appearances by famous street artists like “Ben Eine“, “Risk“, “Revok” and the godfather of stencil art “Blek Le Rat“.

What can you expect ?

The “Haight Street Rat” is returning to Canada (this June) for Saving Banksy Canada 2018! Last year, Banksy’s controversial painting crossed the border for the very first time and was displayed at Wolfhead Distillery in Windsor-Essex County… Saving Banksy Canada 2017 offered guests a 360-degree immersive art experience that featured over 100 pieces of art from more than 20 local artists, the youngest of which is eleven years oldEvening events included: Official Opening Night Party, Banksy Themed Dinner Party and The Official Closing Night Gala

The art activation was originally scheduled for 3 Days  (November 14-16 2017) however the paintings visit was graciously extended for an additional 2 weeks giving visitors the opportunity to view the painting until December 1st 2017
